I’m in the middle of researching and writing a couple new posts, but they’re not ready yet. I came across this cool image while procrastinating, so I thought I’d throw it out there. It comes from WikiSky.org, a very powerful astronomy site. There didn’t seem to be a way to link directly to the images I wanted to show, so I had to pull them directly onto my site. If you want to see the originals, follow this link, then click “They Are Watching Us,” and then “The smile of the Universe.”
On to the images.
Far, far away, deep in the heart of the Virgo cluster, live two very large elliptical galaxies, M84 and M86.
It’s very hard for us to see them from such a distance.
But don’t worry, they can see us just fine.
They are watching.
And they don’t seem very impressed.
