Okay, I’m going for a record today: shortest post ever. I just wanted to let you guys know that most of the stories I write about people come from the interactions I have with all of you, via Twitter, Facebook or email: nate [at] ItStartsWith.Us.

So if you or someone you know has a story that fits in with the theme of this site (making a positive impact in the lives of others . . . changing the world), let’s chat. I’d love to hear from you.

Being positive is my specialty, which is why I tend to attract a lot of positive people to my site. Every one of them has made a powerful, positive impact on my life and all of their websites are wonderful. You can check them out on my site. Also, I have a second blog that focuses on the positive representations of women in the media (http://www.hopespringsinternal.com) and I've focused on some pretty positive and awesome women on that site. It might help you with some ideas if you want to check it out. Thanks so much for spreading positivity and sharing great people and communities with us. I just love your site! :)

Thanks Dani – I've tooled around your site before, and I think I'll give it another spin.

Hi, Nate, I just found this site and joined your network today. I've been doing something quite similar over on my own blog, which I call the Decrease Worldsuck project:

This past weekend, some incredible jerk got into my garage and stole both my daughters' (locked) bicycles. This was absolutely heartbreaking, because they were each girl's respective 13th birthday present, and since my husband has been out of work for over a year, there was no way I could see how we could possibly replace them.

I posted about it, and then left my computer last night, too heartsick to be online as I usually am. When I got back this morning, I discovered that in less than 24 hours, my online friends had raised enough money through PayPal to replace the bikes. Several said that they were inspired, in part, by my Decrease Worldsuck project, and were moved to make the world a little less sucky for me and my family. I was quite touched and overwhelmed by their generosity to two young girls that most of these people had never met, and I will do my best to pay it forward in the days to come.

I love your site, Nate and your status updates on Twitter. I can count on you to make me smile or to link to something that inspires me.

I'm not a happy-go-lucky, upbeat person generally, but I got so frustrated with the CONSTANT whiny/complaining status updates from my friends on Facebook & Twitter and was afraid that I was slipping into the default complain mode, that I instituted No Whining Wednesdays. I post about it each week on my blog and on Facebook and it keeps me from focusing on the negative throughout the day and instead, redirects my energy to the positive and good things going on in my life. I've been told by others who read my blog and who participate each week that it, not only improves their mood every Wednesday, but that they spend time throughout the week writing down the positive things so they remember to share them on Wednesdays. It's made me look forward to Wednesdays now and I wake up with a completely different mind-set.

I'd like to link this site on a future No Whining Wednesday post. I hope my few readers will find some inspiration in your fantastic projects.

Awesome, Peg – that's what all this is about. I love your “decrease worldsuck” project, as you know – and I owe you an email – I'll be in touch…

I've heard a reference or two to No Whining Wednesdays . . . that's you? I think it's very telling that no matter how many people you touch with that message or what you accomplish, one of the biggest effects is the fact that YOU wake up with a completely different mindset.

And that's really what the point of all this is – changing the world by first changing ourselves, and then doing consistent small things to impact others.

And yes, I would very much appreciate a link from your blog as well.
