Hey everyone,

Major thanks for your continual interest and support in our Mysterious Letters project. It’s finally time to start sending those letters.


We’re looking simple, uplifting cards that will connect a community. If you’re looking for ideas, check the last update — hopefully it will get your creativity set in motion! You can sign your letter with your first name, or simply sign it as “anonymous.”


As mentioned in the last update, we have a few “No-No” policies in regards to letter writing:

• Since we’re sending our letters out in December, many of us might find ourselves in the “holiday spirit.” However, this is about connecting a community. We will discard anything holiday-themed (e.g. Christmas cards) and will NOT send them to the secret town.

• Steer away from anything political or religious. Remember, this is about them. Again, we’re trying to connect a community. We are not in the business of pushing our own agendas.

The Details:

We’re giving you two options!


Option 1: Send your own, creative, handwritten letter to us. We’ll write down addresses and make sure your letter is sent to our mysterious town.

Place your letter in a blank, unsealed envelope with postage attached. (If sending a postcard, leave the address area blank and attach a stamp.)

Place your letter (or postcard) inside of another envelope, and send to:

All letters and postcards must be sent by December 7.


Option 2: Send a message you’d like delivered to our mysterious town via e-mail to alicia.ISWU.letters@gmail.com.

Our team will hand-write your message and make sure that someone in the town gets it. This is a great option for anyone who would like more time to work on composing their message, or for those who simply don’t care for their own handwriting or aren’t feeling too artsy — we won’t judge you for that.

All e-mail messages must be in by December 5, 12:00 p.m. central time.


Thanks again for all that you do. I can’t wait to start sending out these letters, and I’m sure you’re all as excited about this as I am! We’ve extended the letter-writing deadlines in order to give everyone an ample amount of time to go about it. We’re aiming to have each letter sent to the secret town by December 16.
